Summary
The purpose of the Innovation Fund is to support innovative education programs in the State of Georgia that advance student achievement. The Innovation Fund focuses on the following areas:
- Applied Learning with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education;
- Birth to Age Eight Language and Literacy Development;
- Development and Replication of Blended Learning School Models; and
- Teacher and Leader Induction and Development.
The following three types of grants are available:
- Accelerator Grants: The Accelerator's mission is to build the capacity of schools and districts to develop radically innovative programs that directly target the root causes of challenging and complex education problems.;
- Implementation Grants: Eligible organizations implement a program aligned with one of the Innovation Fund's priority areas. Successful implementation grants may be eligible to apply for a scaling grant in a future year; and
- Scaling Grants: Funding resources for eligible organizations to scale an existing successful program that is aligned with one of the Innovation Fund's priority areas. Scaling grant applicants must provide evidence that the existing program has generated positive student outcomes, and that, when replicated, the model will yield similar outcomes. Applicants must also demonstrate that the school(s) and/or district(s) identified as scaling partners have formally committed to replicating the model with fidelity.
Community Partnerships Grants: A new grant opportunity for public schools, school districts, and 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations. Community Partnership Grants provide grants to eligible organizations – in partnership with appropriate schools, districts, and community, state, or national organizations – to implement programs focused on one of the following priority areas:
- Birth to Age Eight Language and Literacy Development,
- Coordinated Community Services,
- Elementary Mathematics Teaching and Learning, and
- Positive Learning Climate.
