    Summary

The Utah Highway Safety Office (UHSO) supports local efforts to improve highway safety by providing start up or money for new programs directed at identified traffic safety problems. Each year, the Highway Safety Office compiles a Highway Safety Plan that includes a performance plan to address the traffic safety challenges by setting goals and performance measures in specific a focus or program areas, and a listing of specific projects funded with the expectation they will have a positive impact on reducing traffic crashes and the resulting injuries and fatalities in Utah.

In FY 2026, funding is available in the following program areas:

    • Community Traffic Safety
    • Occupant Protection
    • Impaired Driving
    • Vulnerable Roadway Users
    • Police Traffic Services
    • Traffic Records
