    The Foundation has a vision is for strong communities where families thrive. They partner with nonprofits to improve the quality of life for families and communities, in places where O'Neill family members live.

    • Health and Well-being: Support for nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the families in the communities we call home.
    • Educational Success: Support for nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to improving the educational success of the families in the communities we call home.
    • Homelessness: Support for nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to improving housing options for the families in the communities we call home.

     The Foundation supports 3 types of grants:

    • Capacity Building—support for improving the internal infrastructure of the organization (i.e. strategic planning, IT hardware & software, board development, fundraising consulting)
    • Program Grants— support for direct costs associated with programs, services, and interventions. Supported projects include, but are not limited to, staff salaries and program expenses.
    • General Operations—available to organizations with an annual operating budget of $2 million or less. These grants help cover day-to-day costs like staff, rent and utilities.

    Additional Information

    The Foundation does not fund the following:

    • Debt retirement;
    • Costs already encumbered or to be reimbursed;
    • Lobbying and political activities;
    • Capital campaigns/improvements;
    • Evangelical work by religious organizations;
    • Individuals;
    • Scholarships for individuals;
    • Fundraising drives/events; or
    • Endowment funds

  • Eligibility Details

    Eligible applicants are non-profits exempt under Section 501 (c)(3), government entities, and religious organizations located in one of the following communities:

    • Hawaii - Big Island
    • Florida - Greater Orlando
    • Washington, DC - Limited to DC proper
    • New York City
    • Maryland - Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County
    • Ohio - Cuyahoga County
    • Vermont - Bennington and Rutland Counties
    • Texas - Harris, Montgomery, and Waller Counties
