    Summary

    The Wells Fargo Regional Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families living in low-income neighborhoods in Delaware, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania. The Foundation offers the following two grant programs: Neighborhood Planning Grants, and Neighborhood Implementation Grants.

    Neighborhood Planning Grants
    • Must address children and families, education, economic development, affordable housing and housing counseling, and neighborhood building. The plan must also:
      • Demonstrate resident engagement on multiple levels and steering committee leadership
      • Neighborhood description (including a map of the area and baseline data describing neighborhood conditions, such as Census data)
      • Include a 10 year vision of the future of the neighborhood with implementation goals for the first five years.
      • Description and prioritization of strategies to revitalize the neighborhood
      • Description of the activities to be followed to achieve revitalization and, if available, responsible parties to carry out such activities
      • Estimated costs to implement the plan
      • Timetable for implementing the plan
      • Description of any official plans governing the neighborhood (e.g. City Master Plan)
    Neighborhood Planning Grants support direct expenses that are essential to the planning process such as:
    • Planning consultants and/or staff
    • Outreach and neighborhood organizing functions
    • Community meetings, and advisory group development
    Neighborhood Implementation Grants
    • Support comprehensive community development projects that target specific neighborhoods.

    The Neighborhood Implementation plan must at least address the following:
    • Neighborhood description (including a map of the area and baseline data describing neighborhood conditions, such as Census data)
    • Concept/vision of the future of the neighborhood
    • Description and prioritization of strategies to revitalize the neighborhood
    • Description of the activities to be followed to achieve revitalization and, if available, responsible parties to carry out such activities
    • Estimated financial requirements to carry out the activities
    • Timetable for implementing the plan
    • Description of any official plans governing the neighborhood (e.g. City Master Plan)

    Additional Information

    Potential grantees must be able to demonstrate the milestones, deliverables and outcomes of the planning process and how they will be measured and evaluated.


    All implementation grantees participate in robust evaluation processes designed to inform the neighborhood stakeholders of the project's performance, enhance collaboration, and assess the overall impact of the implementation initiatives. The evaluation includes:

    • The systematic surveying of residents about the quality of life
    • Surveying of the physical condition of neighborhood assets
    • Quarterly reporting on agreed upon milestones and deliverables
    • Assessing the change in select neighborhood indicators


    The Foundation does not support or consider grant requests for:

    • General operating costs; strategic or business plans for organizations; bricks and mortar” projects; individuals; political causes; candidates/organizations whose primary purpose is to influence legislation; national and international organizations; endowments; capital campaigns; debt reduction; special events

  • Eligibility Details

    Potential grantees must have a current 501(c)(3) status and a minimum of three years of audited financial statements. There will be no exceptions made .


    The Foundation generally does not support:

    • Pre-college-level private schools, colleges or universities, veteran or fraternal organizations, religious programs or activities, arts/cultural organizations, hospitals or medical centers, or health- and disease-related organizations.

    The counties severed by this program include:

    New Jersey

    Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren.

    Delaware

    Kent, New Castle, and Sussex.

    Pennsylvania

    Deadline Details

    The application deadline for the Neighborhood Planning program is September 1, 2017.
     
    The application deadline for the Neighborhood Implementation program is October 20, 2017.

    Award Details

    • Neighborhood Planning Grant:Grant size: Grants range from $25,000 to $100,000.
    • Neighborhood Implementation Grant:For single grantees, grants vary in size from $100,000 to $750,000, and are disbursed over five years. For collaboratives, grants vary in size from $250,000 to $1.25 million, and are disbursed over five years.
