The Kansas Revolving and Assistance Fund (KRAF) was established by the passage of 2007 Senate Bill 8 by the Kansas Legislature and is funded through fines, penalties and forfeitures from court costs associated with the passage of this bill. The primary goal of this program is to financially assist Non-profit Licensed EMS Services to purchase EMS equipment and assist in education and training of Kansas certified attendants.
Priorities for funding include (1) Patient Care Equipment; and (2) Patient Handling. Additional consideration will be given to requests for (1) Training; and (2) Special Requests.
Applications will be initially reviewed by KBEMS Staff for completeness. KBEMS will provide all documentation to the Assistance Review Committee (ARC) members for review. Awards will be announced following the regular April KBEMS Board Meeting.
Funds will not be approved or disbursed for: (1) Construction costs; (2) Vehicles; (3) Fire apparatus and/or equipment; (4) Daily operational costs such as expenses for electricity, gasoline or tires; or (5) Extended warranties or service agreements.
Applicant must be a Kansas Non-profit Licensed EMS service in good standing (determined by KBEMS) and currently submitting data in KEMSIS or actively working toward submission.
Applications were to be submitted by January 1, 2022. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Award amounts vary. Financial assistance will primarily be based on demonstrated financial need.
